A Busy Saturday

The day started with haircuts for the guys. I was dreading having to cut Grant's hair. He usually fights it the whole time, and by the end we are all sweating, crying and covered in hair. Today I decided to try the clippers instead of the scissors, and what a difference that made! He just laid his head on Spencer's shoulder and let me go to town on his hair. There were hardly any tears, and it took half the time. We were so proud of him and he was proud of himself. I like Grant's hair longer, but this cut should last him at least two months. Brendan and Spencer are always well-behaved for their haircuts, so it was a good start to our day.

After haircuts there's always a big mess to clean up, so Spencer took the boys out on some errands while I vacuumed and cleaned the whole house. It's so much more fun to clean when no one else is home.
While I rested and the boys napped, Spencer mowed most of the lawn before the lawn mower needed gas and then refused to restart. He's hoping he can limp it through two more months.
After naps, we walked downtown to the Strawberry Festival, where there was lots of of good food, a train to ride, pony rides and shopping. The weather was just perfect for being outside. Brendan's favorite part was the pony ride, and Grant loved riding the train. We had some junk food for dinner and delicious strawberry shortcake for dessert. Spencer's was actually a chocolate version made with brownie, vanilla ice cream, strawberries and chocolate whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup. He said it was definitely worth the $5.00 it cost. We didn't feel too guilty about the bad food because we walked there and back.
And right now I am doing some much-needed updating on this blog. I feel like it was a productive and fun Saturday.

Brendan and Grant are looking handsome in their new haircuts.

The guys are enjoying their junk food picnic supper.

Yee Haw!

Strawberry Shortcake - Yum!
